Flavour
Whenever I need to describe something to myself, I instinctively frame it in terms of my sense of taste, to the point where I literally equate the process of understanding to dissolving an issue on the tongue of my mind.
This applies to everything from my opinion of people to the colour palette I choose for a design. Some people are “yummy” (strawberry-frosted cupcakes), and some are “strong” (tart froyo with some sort of lime-based topping). This tint of blue won’t work because it “tastes” like vanilla froyo. This shade of yellow is perfect because it’s like warm honey mixed in maple syrup. If you need to convince me of something, food metaphors will get you a long way.
Does anyone else do this? Make decisions based on how delicious a person or a thing “tastes”? Some flavours simply go better with certain flavours. It sounds a little weird, but I only recently became consciously aware of how often I do it.

Sounds like synesthesia. I know people who literally perceive things like that! That’s very cool. I don’t default to taste metaphors myself, but I do love that concept a lot!

Curious about cities, patterns, design, and marginalia. I use the word 'narrative' a lot. Emmanuel is Ghanaian, and a long way from home. Nice to meet you. (@equartey, Pinterest, email, ask)
