Defining the commons
A commons has boundaries, rules, punishment of free-riders, and social norms. A commons requires that there be a community willing to act as a steward of a resource.
Do you think of a commons in this way? I didn’t until I read David Bollier’s essay, The Commons as a Different Engine for Innovation.

A commons is not no ownership…in a way, it is total (shared, active, diligent) ownership…
